The Scottish Cup match this weekend at Pittodrie will be the manager of the Dons’ debut.

With Aberdeen ‘not miles ahead’ of them, according to Neil Warnock, the Scottish Cup trophy is his goal.

In order to win the Scottish Cup, Neil Warnock is certain that Celtic and Rangers are “not miles ahead” of his Aberdeen team.

When the seasoned manager arrived at Pittodrie, he made his debut as their new temporary goalie at Ibrox. The game was fiercely contested, with the hosts winning 2-1 despite a close call with the Dons. Although Warnock has much to be happy with from his players, the Scottish Cup at home in Bonnyrigg Rose presents a new challenge.

The seasoned manager is always confident in upending the status quo in cup competitions, and if Aberdeen can get beyond the lower league elimination round, Warnock is certain they can mount a significant comeback because neither of the major Glasgow clubs is unstoppable.

“We’ve watched us play games that we could win against Celtic and Rangers.

“Are you with me when I say that they were miles ahead of us a few years ago? Now, I fail to see that.

“They’re better than us, but you know, I think with the right attitude and tactical way, you can have a go at them.”
