Rangers have been cautioned by Barry Ferguson not to lose sight of their objective since, despite Celtic’s current struggles, the Bhoys are capable of winning championships.

When Philippe Clement became leadership of the Ibrox team in October, Rangers trailed their local rivals Celtic by seven points.

Now that Clement’s squad has a game in hand, the Gers have reduced the deficit to three points by taking advantage of Brendan Rodgers’ team’s decline in performance.

Ferguson, though, reminded Rangers that Rodgers’ Celtic know how to win trophies and warned them not to lose concentration just because Celtic aren’t playing at their best.

The former Rangers player told them to concentrate on their games and to show respect for Celtic’s skills.

“Listen, Celtic isn’t playing well right now, and they weren’t very good at Easter Road,” Ferguson stated in his Daily Record column.

Rangers must play each week with unwavering attention because they know how to win trophies.

They cannot afford to think, “Maybe they will drop points today,” when they wake up on a Saturday morning.

“No, you have to leave the house believing they will win every week because that’s what keeps your personal focus on achieving the desired outcomes.

“Over the next three and a half months, Rangers simply need to be ultra-focused.”

Rangers’ next Scottish Cup match comes against Ayr United this coming weekend. Then, they play Ross County the following week.
