Pro Football Focus has selected Kentucky linebacker and Georgia transfer Jamon Dumas-Johnson to the 2024 All-Transfer Portal Team.
“Dumas-Johnson’s injured forearm kept him out of the last five games of the 2023 campaign. He led all SEC linebackers in run-defense grade (79.7) and pressure rate (26.7%) the previous season. Next season, he will be in charge of Kentucky’s defense.”
Dumas-Johnson committed to the Wildcats on December 20, following Bulldogs teammate and former Georgia quarterback Brock Vandagriff to Lexington. According to 247Sports, he is regarded as the No. 1 linebacker and No. 21 overall transfer in the portal. He joined the portal on December 15.
The Maryland native finished the previous season with nine games played, 34 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two pass deflections. However, an arm injury kept him out of the final four games, including the SEC Championship Game against Alabama.
He was an important reserve for Georgia’s second consecutive back-to-back national championship in 2021 and started all 15 of the team’s games in 2022. Dumas-Johnson, a 2022 Butkus Award contender, finished with 64 tackles, 3.0 sacks, a forced fumble, and three pass deflections, including one in the College Football Playoffs against Ohio State.
