Breaking News: Rangers’ super star claims SWPL player of the month award

In order to win the January award, Rachel Rowe defeated Jorian Baucom (Hibernian), Katie Lockwood (Heart of Midlothian), and Linzi Taylor (Partick Thistle); Kaela McDonald-Nguah of Gartcairn took home the SWPL 2 prize.

The January Scottish Women’s Premier League player of the month is Rachel Rowe of Rangers.

After joining the Rangers in July, Rowe wins the prize for the first time, making history as the third player from the team to win it this year, behind Rio Hardy and Kirsty Howat.

The Wales international was essential to Rangers’ January success as they advanced to the Sky Sports Cup final and maintained their top spot in the SWPL standings.

Rowe scored both goals in Rangers’ 2-1 victory over Aberdeen and was named player of the match in the team’s 3-2 victory over Celtic in the Sky Sports Cup semifinal.

Kaela McDonald-Nguah, who joined Gartcairn on loan from Motherwell, won the SWPL 2 prize.

Prior to her loan signing, the team had only two points, but after winning all three of their games in January, they now have 11 points and are only three points out of safety.

Jorian Baucom (Hibernian), Katie Lockwood (Heart of Midlothian), and Linzi Taylor (Partick Thistle) were the nominees for the January 2024 SWPL award; Monica Harty (Queen’s Park) and Georgie McTear (Kilmarnock) were the nominees for the SWPL 2 award.
