Barcelona make contact for €60 million-rated Everton midfielder, willing to offer €40 million

Barcelona make contact for €60 million-rated Everton midfielder, willing to offer €40 million.

According to SPORT, Barcelona is considering Everton’s Amadou Onana as a defensive midfielder.

According to the outlet, sports director Deco has identified Onana as the missing component who can help the squad overcome its midfield troubles and has contacted the required parties to discuss the operation.

Given his age of 22, management believes the Belgian international can provide much-needed steadiness to the team.

Deco believes that the squad requires a physically robust player, which differs significantly from Xavi’s approach. The current Barcelona manager insisted on additions like Giovani Lo Celso, which didn’t sit well with Deco.

But now that Xavi is out of the picture in the summer transfer window, Deco wants to follow his plan, and he is in talks with

interested parties to bring in Onana, who joined Everton in August 2022 for a fee rumored to be around €35 million.

But there’s a problem: the player’s price. Everton paid €35 million, but the Merseyside club is now seeking for treble that amount: €60 million.

Furthermore, the fact that Chelsea and Arsenal are interested is making it tough for Barcelona and Deco to proceed with this operation.

Barcelona willing to offer €40 million

Barcelona’s financial crisis is well known, and Deco will need to sell numerous players to fund this risky investment.

Deco has set a limit of €40 million for Onana, and has already contacted him.

If the player and Everton agree on the fee, Deco and Barcelona will make an offer. Everton is set on a €60 million valuation, making it difficult for the Blaugrana to match.
