An update on Rangers’ injuries is given prior to their Scottish Cup match against Ayr United.

This weekend’s Scottish Cup match between Rangers and Ayr United will not include Tom Lawrence.

The attacking midfielder will miss the fifth round encounter out of caution, according to Philippe Clement.

In recent weeks, the Wales international has intensified his comeback to the first team, playing an increasing amount of minutes.

On Tuesday night, the 30-year-old made his Ibrox debut against Aberdeen and was instrumental in the home team’s victory.

Since moving to Glasgow more than 18 months ago, the former Manchester United academy product has not experienced any injury problems.

Although his absence from the matchday squad tomorrow may worry some, the management seems unconcerned with the situation, revealing that Ryan Jack and Ben Davies are still involved.

The Belgian stated, “Ben Davies is back in for selection.” In order to provide adequate recovery in between minutes, Tom Lawrence won’t be in the squad. This is more of a precaution, much like what happened with Jack midweek. Ryan Jack has rejoined the team.

“With a history of injuries we need to be careful with players, there is clear communication with the medical staff and the players.”

Last weekend, during the match against Livingston, Leon Balogun took a rough one and may have broken his cheekbone.

He won’t be able to play on Saturday night, but he might be able to play against Ross County when Rangers plays Celtic in the Premiership the following week.

“I anticipate seeing Leon [Balogun] back next week,” Clement continued. “He saw a specialist.” He’s not sure if it’s Ross County or the weekend, but he’ll be back wearing a mask.

“Sometimes you need a few sessions to get comfortable in the mask.”
