Sources: Everton set new Amadou Onana asking price after Newcastle United latest

Sources: Everton raised its asking price for Amadou Onana in response to Newcastle United’s most recent move.

Newcastle United and Arsenal are interested in Onana, a £60 million-rated Everton player.

Ahead of the summer transfer season, Newcastle United is in the lead for Everton player Amadou Onana, according to sources who spoke to Football Insider.

Onana, 22, possesses a comprehensive scouting file, Football Insider revealed on Monday, February 5. This is a prelude to the Belgium international’s possible off-season raid.

And now, a trustworthy source has told Football Insider that Everton would expect a summer transfer fee for their star midfield player that ranges from £50 to £60 million.

If the Toffees succeed in their takeover before the summer and stay out of the Championship, they aim to get a payment of that size.

Onana is another player that Arsenal is interested in; Football Insider reported on Wednesday, February 7, that Mikel Arteta and his recruiting team are keeping an eye on a number of prospects in front of the summer transfer window.

Everton is eager to keep the Belgium international at Goodison Park, but if their financial position cannot be addressed, they will find themselves in a dire situation.

Onana is viewed by Newcastle as a significant improvement over some of their available midfield choices.

Thus far in the 2023–24 campaign, he has made 24 appearances in all competitions, recording two goals and one assist.

The former West Ham target joined Everton in August 2022 and has since played in 50 Premier League games.

Onana has a contract with Merseyside that expires in June 2027.

According to one expert, Everton has suffered a fresh setback to their takeover; “they now owe £200 million.”
