Rangers’ Jack Butland ‘on’ England Euro 2024 watchlist
A report claims that Jack Butland has a good chance of making England’s squad for the European Championships this summer.
The Rangers goalkeeper, who joined the Ibrox club this season, has been playing well.
After a tough few years at several Premier League clubs as a backup keeper, he’s been on the rise under Philippe Clement.
With nine caps for his nation, the former goalie for Stoke, Crystal Palace, and Manchester United acknowledged last month that he hoped to force his way back into Gareth Southgate’s plans for the 2024 European Championship in Germany. Five and a half years after making his final appearance for the Three Lions, the Daily Record now reports that Butland is being watched by England’s coaching staff in the hopes of being included in the 23-man roster.
Martyn Margetson, the goalie coach for England, addressed the media organization.
“There’s no doubt about it, Jack is on the radar,” he stated. I’ve been following all of his games, and I’m rather happy with his performance. He is acting in his own self-interest. He appears to have given his game a lot of thought. There are many instances in there where it seems like he’s truly use his experience to better himself. Tactically, it’s evident in the positions he’s assuming; he’s in a great place.
Therefore, he is benefiting himself. Jack deserves all the credit for playing first-team football at a level that makes him a contender. He’s representing a major club, and based on what I’ve seen, he’s performing admirably. While I’m not promising him a spot in the team, Gareth and I am well aware of how well he’s performing at Rangers. It’s now Jack Butland’s responsibility to maintain that. If he does, Jack and the Rangers will both gain from it.
