Everton manager clarifies Tottenham outburst and punishment ahead of Man City, calling it “clearly pushed.”

Sean Dyche, the manager of Everton, has explained the circumstances surrounding his yellow card against Tottenham.

Prior to his team’s travel to play Manchester City, Everton manager Sean Dyche has opened out about the incident that resulted in a one-match touchline suspension.

Last Saturday, the Toffees battled back from behind twice at Goodison Park to earn a late point against Tottenham due to a goal from Jarrad Branthwaite. There is no break in the schedule for Everton following a difficult run of results in which they have won just one of their previous ten games.

During last weekend’s intense contest, Dyche lost his cool over a decision that didn’t go his way, and as a result, he was given a yellow card and banned for one match. Dyche responded, “I believe I am,” when asked if he was banned during his news conference over the weekend. His absence on the touchline will be felt as they prepare to play one of Europe’s top teams. “It’s not the same as being at pitch level and having that connection with the team, but what’s done is done.”

When asked what specifically got him suspended, he responded, “No, it wasn’t, it was actually the second foul on Beto.” A reporter mistakenly thought it was for a penalty appeal. The first was the non-penalty, which everyone knows we haven’t received, and the second was Beto’s foul outside the box, which, to be honest, I felt was worse.

“In terms of the technical area, ours is very tiny, one yard and you’re in the other dugout and then you see these managers running up and down the touchline, and no booking, so I don’t know what the rules are anymore.”

Since Everton hasn’t received a penalty yet this season, only Tottenham has. Dyche feels this is unfair because Everton has definitely had “cause” in their matches with the Spurs. “We’ve certainly had cause for one; one down at Tottenham for pulling shirts, I thought the one the other day [vs Spurs] was one,” Dyche said. Additionally, I’ve seen some that work against us, and I’m not sure what constitutes contact these days. The other day, Beto was obviously shoved off the ball, but there was no penalty.
