Newcastle to destroy Everton move as Dan Ashworth makes ‘enquiry’ for German club’s best player.

Uzun, an 18-year-old forward, may play as a central attacking midfielder, striker, or right flank depending on the situation. Despite his young age, Uzun is already a formidable senior player.

He progressed through the Nuremberg academy before making his senior debut in May, and he has since developed as an important player for the German team.

Uzun has 13 goals and three assists in 20 games this season, including a brace in Saturday’s Bundesliga 2 tie against VfL Osnabruck.

Nuremberg’s top player this season has an average rating of 7.11, according to WhoScored data.

Unsurprisingly, Uzun’s outstanding performances have sparked speculation that he would soon depart Nuremberg for bigger and better things.

On October 10, Everton became the first Premier League team associated with him. However, the Toffees will now face Newcastle.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg said that the Magpies have ‘entered the race’ for Uzun.

Newcastle make ‘enquiry’ for Everton target

Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth has even made a ‘enquiry’ to discuss the terms of a potential transaction. However, he is not alone in doing so; Italian giants Inter Milan have also contacted Nuremberg officials.

Plettenberg adds that key Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt are also active in the transfer chase, while fellow German source Bild claim Fulham are keeping tabs.

It has already been alleged that Uzun’s Nuremberg contract includes a release clause that expires in June 2027. Plettenberg, on the other hand, has rejected those recommendations, showing that Nuremberg can demand whatever they want in exchange for letting him leave.

Nuremberg are anticipated to demand more than €10 million (£8.5 million) for the wonderkid, who is valued at €8 million (£6.8 million) on transfermarkt. This is logical given that he is one of the most promising players to emerge from their academy in recent years.

While Uzun is being pursued by some of Germany’s top clubs, Newcastle should be able to win the race for him this summer. After a quiet January, Eddie Howe should have a lot of money to spend this summer.

Uzun’s signing would continue Newcastle’s objective of acquiring some of the greatest young talents in Europe and beyond. They have already signed promising players like Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall, Alfie Harrison, and Yankuba Minteh.
