Jack Clarke expresses his sentiments about the unsuccessful transfer from Sunderland to West Ham rather clearly.

Jack Clarke has addressed his disappointment over losing out on a January transfer from Sunderland to West Ham United.

In the January transfer window, West Ham was strongly connected to a bid to recruit Jack Clarke from Sunderland; but, the Black Cats’ demands of £20 million proved to be too much for us in the end.

In the end, Hammers manager David Moyes let Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma to depart the London Stadium and was unable to sign a forward before the deadline last week.

I would have been more than delighted for the Spaniard and the Algerian to leave if the Scot had brought the 23-year-old Clarke to the club.

That didn’t happen, though, and as a result, West Ham is now perilously low on attacking options; in fact, we may lose out on our chance to finish in the top six.

I think it was a huge loss to miss out on Clarke, but how does the former Leeds and Tottenham player feel about his unsuccessful attempt to transfer from Wearside to East London?

On his unsuccessful transfer from Sunderland to West Ham

The Black Cats winger talked to the cameras on Sky Sports following his team’s Sunday 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough.

And in response to a question concerning significant ties to a January transfer to the Hammers, Clarke said:

To be honest, I’m glad to be here, I still love wearing a Sunderland shirt, and I don’t seem to be bothered by the things that people say outside. I’m content as long as I’m wearing a Sunderland shirt and showing up every day.

In my opinion, it’s a great tragedy that West Ham didn’t make a stronger move for the 23-year-old.

This season, Clarke has been in incredible form for Sunderland, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists in 32 Championship appearances.

We would have had a really good option in him for the rest of the current season and maybe even next year. Whether or not West Ham makes another attempt to sign him in the summer will depend on how well he plays for the Black Cats from now until the end of the season.

However, it appears that Jack Clarke is content for the time being at Sunderland.
