Bleacher Report argues Saints should make a massive trade with a division rival.
Bleacher Report thinks the New Orleans Saints can find support in their division as they try to bolster their roster during the summer.
During the offseason, the New Orleans Saints will work to strengthen their roster and solve their cap issues.
Even if it’s difficult to achieve both at the same time, the Saints should be driven to overcome their lackluster season by
whatever means, given that they were one victory away from winning the NFC South.
These tactics might entail conducting business with the adversary. A list of all 32 teams’ offseason trade guidelines was just
published by Bleacher Report. Each team’s trade targets and prospects were included in the handbook, along with a fictitious
trade. The bold recommendation from the BR staff to the Saints was to trade their 14th overall 2024 first-round pick to the
Carolina Panthers in exchange for cornerback Jaycee Horn, a 2024 and 2025 third-round pick, and their second-round pick (No. 33).
Should Saints trade their first-round pick to Panthers?
As the Bleacher Report pointed out, transactions involving division opponents are uncommon.
But drastic methods are necessary in desperate times. Given that Carolina is in dire need of a first-round selection in this year’s
draft, it is reasonable to believe that it will be open to negotiations. Is this anything that New Orleans ought to take into consideration?
The Saints aren’t in a position to choose the best quarterbacks or offensive linemen available in the draft at number 14.
Trading back is undoubtedly a discussion worth having, especially if they could obtain Jaycee Horn, two third-round picks, and
a second-round pick. They might still be able to select an exceptional prospect at number 14.
Horn is a very gifted cornerback that was selected eighth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Regrettably, he has had injury struggles
over his brief NFL career. He has missed a significant amount of time in three seasons due to hamstring injuries, fractured
wrists, and fractured feet. After participating in 20 games across three seasons, his future remains uncertain.
Horn would be an intriguing talent for the Saints to acquire despite his history of injuries.
New Orleans should give its opponent a call if the Panthers are willing to deal Horn and so many early selections.
