After negotiations broke down, West Ham’s January transfer target might play against them the next campaign.
Ibrahim Osman, who West Ham wanted to sign in January, has now agreed to a deal that would see him go from Nordsjaell and for £17 million, and he will sign with Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer.
Another young superstar, 19-year-old Ghanaian, is reportedly on Brighton’s radar and will likely come to The Amex this summer after reaching an agreement in principle with Roberto de Zerbi’s team, according to sources from HITC.
Osman and the London Stadium allegedly had conversations prior to the January transfer market closing on Thursday, but those discussions broke down late in the month, despite West Ham’s continued interest in the Danish player. As a result, Osman will now likely embark on a different Premier League trip.
The forward, who was born in 2004, began his youth career in Ghana at the Right to Dream Academy before relocating to Denmark in 2023. Since then, he has made 29 appearances for Nordjsaelland in all competitions, totaling five assists and four goals. The young player, who made an appearance in the Conference League and scored in his team’s 7-1 victory over Ludogorets in October, has also received experience in Europe.
De Zerbi has been drawn to Osman because of his versatility, even though he typically plays from either wing. Osman can also play through the middle. Osman should fit nicely in with Brighton’s changing tactics and systems, as the Italian manager has a reputation for doing.
After acquiring Simon Adingra from Nordsjaelland in 2022, the Seagulls will be doing business with the Danish team for the second time. He was loaned to Union Saint-Gilloise, but he later came back to the south coast of England. He scored four goals in the top tier in 2023–2024 and is presently playing for Ivory Coast at the AFCON.
The only addition made by West Ham in January was the loan of Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City to the London Stadium. The former Leeds midfielder is looking for more playing time in preparation for this summer’s Euro 2024 competition in Germany.
