Following his score at Ibrox, Kris Boyd expressed his surprise that neither Rangers nor Celtic attempted to buy Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski during the January transfer window.

The former Rangers player asserted that the forward is just the kind of player that both Old Firm teams need, having demonstrated his ability to score goals against every team in the league, but he speculated that money might have been an obstacle.

When the summer transfer market opens, Joe Lewis, the former goalkeeper for Aberdeen, estimated that it would cost about £8 million plus add-ons to get the striker out of Pittodrie.

Boyd said this when appearing live on Sky Sports on February 6 at 22:14: “I’m surprised.” It’s surprising that none of the Celtics or Rangers selected him. I believe the explanation has to do with money. Although Rangers clearly spent a lot of money on elite players in the summer, there may still be questions because things didn’t exactly work out.

Rangers ought to acquire Miovski.

Midway through the season, the window of opportunity to complete a trade has closed, but if Rangers’ striker problems continue and the North Macedonian keeps putting in a strong effort for Aberdeen, there’s no reason a summer transfer wouldn’t be in the works.

Despite Aberdeen’s bad run, which resulted in the firing of Barry Robson and the hiring of Neil Warnock, he is putting up figures that would definitely fit the elite teams, with 13 goals and two assists in 24 games played so far this season.

Rangers would probably be happy with an £8 million price tag and add-ons as well. Even though it would be an expensive trade and a record move between Scottish teams, he would be worthwhile if his goals made the difference between winning and losing the league.
