Man Utd is in the lead to sign the great center back from Everton for £100m.

Jarrad Branthwaite, the center back for Everton, is a target for Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.

The England u21 international is thought to be one of Erik Ten Hag‘s long-term priorities, along with his recruitment team.

As they get ready to make a bid for the center-back at the end of the season, the Red Devils are reportedly “leading the race” to sign the 21-year-old, who is also being pursued by a number of Premier League teams.

Despite the defender’s October contract renewal at Goodison Park, United is expected to make a move for Branthwaite as a replacement because they plan to let Raphael Varane leave the team for free in the summer.

Since Branthwaite has an Everton contract that expires in June 2027 and the Toffees have placed a £100 million price tag on him, Man Utd will need to come up with a sizable payment in order to secure a deal.

Stability in defense

With a decisive 3-0 victory over West Ham, the Red Devils moved up to sixth place in the standings. Even though the scoreline might indicate a straightforward victory, West Ham was still able to generate several opportunities and probably would have scored a few goals on another day.

Man United’s defense has been a bit of a problem this season. This season, they have already given up 52 goals in all competitions, therefore United desperately needs defensive solidity.

Due to a knee ligament injury he sustained over the weekend, Lisandro Martinez will be sidelined for eight weeks, leaving Erik ten Hag without a reliable backup.

The leaders of Manchester United are currently trying to find a solution for the summer, and Branthwaite has been mentioned as a top choice to take Varane’s spot.

Branthwaite has made 26 appearances for Everton this season in all competitions, making him a constant presence. If they can pull it happen, he might prove to be a great addition as he is becoming a top-tier defense and gaining a lot of experience in the top division.
