FOUR YEARS AFTER THEIR FIRST TRANSFER TALKS, RANGERS RESTORE INTEREST IN STOKE CITY MAN

After making a late January bid, Rangers have rekindled their interest in the Stoke City attacker.

Tyrese Campbell of Stoke City is reportedly still a target for Rangers, per Football Insider reports.

Following his outstanding breakthrough season with the Potters, Campbell was strongly connected to a January 2020 trade to the Green Bay Packers. Rangers had direct negotiations with the striker at the time, and they made him an attractive offer to transfer to Ibrox.

Tyreece Campbell’s father, Kevin Campbell, verified that his son and the Rangers had had conversations. But in the end, the youthful forward signed a four and a half year contract, pledging his future to the Championship team.

At the time, the former striker for Everton and Arsenal stated to Football Insider, “I know that there were talks with Rangers because he could talk to them.”I think he spoke to Rangers, but he thought Stoke was the ideal location for him to be right now in terms of his development and future.

Despite their loss, Rangers still think highly of Tyrese Campbell, and they’ll probably try again in the upcoming months to recruit the left-footed forward. Rangers are now entitled to extend an offer to the forward while he considers his options because his contract with Stoke City is set to expire in the summer.

Hellas Verona is probably going to fight the Ibrox club for Campbell’s services as well. On the day of the transfer deadline, the v team apparently made a late bid for Campbell; however, Steven Schumacher’s team ultimately rejected a bid that was said to be worth £1 million.

With Campbell on board, the Rangers front line would have more variety. Over the years, Campbell has demonstrated his versatility by playing as a right-sided winger, offensive midfielder, left winger, and center forward.

Due to injuries, Campbell has only managed one goal in 12 league appearances this season, making it not his most fruitful campaign in goal. This is a far cry from his nine goals and five assists for the Championship team last season.

The 24-year-old has played in 131 Championship games overall with a record of 29 goals and 15 assists. In his two matches as an England U20 representative in 2019, he scored two goals.
