To establish a “fearsome” defensive front, Lions are urged to target a versatile prospect.

During the first week of the offseason, the Detroit Lions have been connected to both the draft and interior and edge rushers available in free agency. But in an ideal scenario, the Lions might bring in one player who can cover quarterbacks from both spots. Lance Zierlein  NFLo.com suggested that Darius Robinson, a defensive lineman for Missouri, may be an intriguing candidate for Detroit to approach.

In his NFL mock draft, which was made public on February 5, Zierlein had Robinson selected by the Lions at pick No. 29 overall. “Robinson successfully transitioned from the interior to the defensive end during the previous Mizzou season,” Zierlein noted. He can charge from the inside or the outside to help the Lions put on a formidable front. For Missouri in 2023, Robinson tallied 8.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss. In all, he recorded a career-high 43 tackles.

Without a doubt, Detroit’s 2023 roster’s worst position was cornerback.In terms of passing touchdowns allowed and pass defense, the Lions came in 27th place overall. Those dismal numbers against the pass were a little unexpected.In terms of pressure rate, hurry percentage, and quarterback knockdown rate, the Lions led the field. However, the team’s dismal performance in the net yards allowed per pass attempt statistic was partly due to the lack of sacks.With 41 sacks, the Lions tied for 23rd place in the standings.

Detroit’s numerous contributions allowed them to manage so many QB takedowns. In 2023, eighteen Lions defenders had at least one sack. Only defensive lineman Elim McNeill and defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, though, had more than three sacks.
