Lawrence Shankland opens up on his future as he discusses January transfer interest
At the beginning of the year, there were many rumors that the captain of Hearts and Scotland international would be leaving
Tynecastle, with Rangers being the front-runners to sign him.
Additionally, Shankland’s existing employer made two new deal offers to him, but nothing was inked within the timeframe.
The 28-year-old is now totally committed to everything Hearts as he looks to help the Gorgie team finish third in the Scottish
Premiership.
“I’ve 18 months left on my contract,” he stated. The most important thing to remember is that I have a contract that expires at
the conclusion of the season.
The deadline was for the club to put a stop to it by the end of January so that we could move on.
“I’m sure discussions will go on in the future. I currently have eighteen months remaining on this contract. There isn’t really an
urgent need to get things resolved as soon as possible, so we can move on from that.
Given everything I’ll need to take into account in the future, including my age and other factors, I think that setting the deadline
was a little too close.
“Like I said, I’m content here. I’m having a great time with football. I hope that comes across in my performances and form. I
think the discussions will reopen in the future. We’d prefer to lay it to rest and return our attention to the football, as Naisy
mentioned.”
