Ex-officio renders a “clear foul” decision in the Rangers vs. Livingston match.

Dermot Gallagher, a former Premier League referee, has stated that there was a “clear foul” prior to Rangers‘ first goal against Livingston.

On Saturday, the Ibrox team easily defeated the struggling Scottish Premiership team 3-0.

But Fabio Silva’s first goal was upheld following Connor Goldson‘s challenge on David Carson, leaving Livingston manager David Martindale incensed.

The manager said that after Goldson unintentionally struck the defender on the leg, Carson was left with stud marks before Silva scored.

Now that he has given his opinion on Ref Watch, Gallagher says the goal should not have stood.

He declared: “Goldson is at the backpost when he ventures in quite high and catches him in the leg with his boot.

“I believe the referee will call a foul if he notices that. He just doesn’t seem to get it.

“I’m not sure. I wasn’t sure what we were looking at when I was shown it this morning, so I’m not sure whether they noticed it right away either.

You can’t miss it once you see it, can you? It’s an obvious foul.

Martindale made the following statement following the game: “I am quite shocked that VAR let that goal stand.

It’s not bitterness because the Rangers earned three points in the contest.

However, Goldson catches Carson on the way down, with his foot at head height with Carson.

Because he can see the foot approaching and feels a little uneasy, Carson is unable to attack the ball as effectively as he would.

Looking at Carson’s leg with the stud marks, I am shocked that the goal is still in place.

“I know it shouldn’t be a goal, but Goldson has caught him with his momentum; he hasn’t meant that.”
