Joking about Justin Bieber’s support of the Maple Leafs, a Bruins star does it.
From playing with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on Team McDavid to getting overly excited about his first shot in the skills competition’s one-timer event to even scoring on his teammate, Jeremy Swayman, David Pastrnak had quite the All-Star Game. The forward for the Boston Bruins, who was rightly jeered at his opponent Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, also had the opportunity to meet Justin Bieber, a well-known Toronto Maple Leafs supporter. Four Maple Leafs players led Team Matthews, which was coached by Jim Montgomery, with the Canadian singer serving as co-captain.
Pastrnak understands the significance of having someone like the Grammy winner be a part of the yearly event, even though Bieber was on the opposing bench and supports one of the Bruins’ biggest rivals. Additionally, he couldn’t resist making a small swipe at Bieber.
Pastrnak said to reporters, “That was cool. He’s an amazing, talented person.” Of course, I love his songs. That’s a touch backwards because he is a Leafs fan. It was enjoyable. I managed to snap a photo of him on the ice and in the room. Very unique. The guys are all grateful that he is a hockey fan. When someone like this values what we do, it improves our game.
Pastrnak has previously seized the chance to make light of Bieber’s situation. In 2019, Bieber expressed his optimism for a Maple Leafs victory on Instagram prior to Game 7 between the team and the Bruins. After Boston defeated Toronto, Pastranak made fun of Justin Bieber on social media by writing, “Not today, @justinbieber.” Montgomery was able to play the All-Star Game with Bieber by his side. The two were frequently seen by cameras celebrating each goal. The Bruins coach also talked about what it was like to have Bieber on the bench with him after the game.
“With his energy, he was fully engaged,” Montgomery remarked to the press. “I had no idea what to anticipate. He clearly had a passion for the game. He was identifying the truly imaginative plays and expressing his thoughts aloud. He was obviously a native Canadian who grew up playing the game and comprehended the nuances when someone made a truly brilliant play.
