Neil Warnock set to be appointed Aberdeen manager despite his “love” for Rangers
The 75-year-old is the overwhelming frontrunner for the job, and Dons fans will be hoping he can lead them to a top-six finish.
The new Aberdeen manager may face challenges in gaining the support of Dons fans, having previously admitted to being a
“Rangers fan.” Neil Warnock has emerged as the overwhelming contender for the vacant position following Barry Robson’s dismissal last week.
The 75-year-old will arrive with a stellar CV and a knack for getting the most of out an underdog – something Aberdeen are in dire
need of. But the experienced manager has already split opinion due to his “love” for Rangers – something he confessed to a number of years ago.
Warnock explained why both Glasgow behemoths appealed to him and the positive experiences he had with them.
He said: “I’ve always wanted to have a go at Celtic or Rangers.
“I love Rangers and am a Rangers fan down here, only because Ally McCoist, Rangers, and me and him against Alan Brazil, who’s
mad Celtic.”
In a twist of fate, if he is named in time, Warnock’s first game will be at Ibrox against Rangers, who are seeking to go to the top of
the table due to Celtic’s stuttering form. The Dons will be seeking for another three points at Ibrox as they try to avoid relegation.
