“Finally” Bid submitted, Rangers eye move for left-footed English forward

Sources: Rangers eye move for Stoke City ace Tyrese Campbell after bid submitted

Rangers are monitoring Stoke City’s Tyrese Campbell, according to Football Insider sources.

The Gers are thought to have reignited their interest in the left-footed Championship forward, who is poised to become a free agency this summer.

Four years ago, Football Insider reported that the team attempted to sign Campbell from the bet365 Stadium.

Philippe Clement’s team could now make another attempt to sign the 24-year-old, the son of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell.

Hellas Verona made a deadline-day bid for Campbell, but the Potters turned it down (source: Football Insider, 1 February).

The Englishman returned to training early last month after recovering from an injury and has played in Stoke’s previous four league games.

In 13 appearances in all competitions for Steven Schumacher’s team this season, he has two goals and one assist.

He started Stoke’s most recent Championship match on Saturday (3 February), a 5-0 loss to league leaders Leicester City.

Rangers are likely to lose Fabio Silva at the end of the season when his loan from Premier League club Wolves expires, implying that they will need to strengthen their frontline in the summer.

Campbell is a tremendously versatile attacker, having played left wing, center forward, attacking midfield, and right midfield this season.

Rangers sit second in the Scottish Premiership after a 3-0 win against Livingston on Saturday (3 February), trailing only Celtic by three points with one game in hand.

Their next match is against eighth-place Aberdeen on Tuesday night (6 February).
