Celtic manager scrambles in BBC interview as Rangers comments come back to haunt him-

Brendan Rodgers backtracks as arrogant Rangers comments hang over Celtic manager.

After making conceited remarks about Rangers in December, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers promptly retracts such remarks.

After blowing a seven-point lead in the title chase and igniting a Premiership battle not seen in the better part of 13 years, the Parkhead boss is under fire.

Under Philippe Clement’s direction, the Rangers are winning games again and are starting to seem like the favorite to win the championship.

But for now it’s neck-and-neck and apparently, despite flippantly dismissing Philippe Clement as the fifth boss he’d swatted away at Parkhead, Brendan Rodgers expected no less.

Brendan Rodgers “expected” Rangers title challenge

After Celtic’s victory against Livingston, Philippe Clement declined to be drawn on Brendan Rodgers or the team, but Rodgers did make some comments regarding Rangers over the weekend.

The Parkhead boss was cheering for the Rangers and declaring that he “expected nothing more” than a title fight; you could practically see his shirt getting tighter around his neck.

“I had no higher expectations,” Rodgers remarked. Every season is something you expect when it arrives.

“Some people may feel that it’s only ten or fifteen points, but any competitive team or club will always make sure that they’re ready to fight.”

But we also are. We have lost too many games by a large margin, but if you keep working and fighting, we will soon have our squad back.

But we are limited to focusing on ourselves. We are the only side that has failed to score points today, so we must obviously concentrate on our own performance.

Celtic boss swatted away Rangers manager challenge

Compare these remarks to the haughty remarks made by Rodgers following Celtic’s 2-1 Old Firm victory against Rangers in December.

Pulling out the well-worn “can you see the Rangers coming” joke from 2016, when Rodgers played a struggling Rangers club, the comments seemed certain to come back to haunt the former Liverpool manager.

Rodgers said, “I’ve worked against five Rangers managers in my two spells here, Scott.”And whenever the Rangers showed up.

“Every time, eventually. For me, though, it’s normal because, as I mentioned the other day, if I followed the press and the media, we would always be in a state of emergency and terrified of the Rangers.

However, this is now the fifth manager. As a result, I only pay close attention to Celtic matters and am heavily focused on this site; fortunately, I dismiss most other information that may arise.

The exuberance, haughtiness, and overconfidence are no longer appropriate.

Rangers supporters have these remarks bookmarked in case Philippe Clement has a stellar season. We had a sneaking sensation the Celtic manager would live to regret making these remarks.

Even though Rodgers still has a lot of work ahead of him before the season ends, it raises the question, “Can you see us now?”
