AT&T Stadium will be renamed by the Cowboys as the World Cup draws near.
FRISCO: “JerryWorld” is not the name of the place. It isn’t called “The Death Star,” sorry. The Arlington home of the Dallas Cowboys is now known as “AT&T Stadium,” thanks to a naming rights purchase made by AT&T. With the exception of this summer, when it won’t be because DFW received nine matches overall—more than any other city.
Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, is not letting his team’s disappointing second place finish get to him. FIFA announced on Sunday that the 2026 World Cup Final will be held in New York/New Jersey.
“This has been a huge success,” Jones declared. “This is a victory. For all parties involved, this is an enormous success. Although it’s convenient to sit here and claim that you came in second, the truth is that these seconds are truly amazing.
It is anticipated that the quadrennial event, which is the most watched sporting event globally, will bring an unprecedented number of tourists to Dallas—possibly four million—with an economic impact of over $1 billion. With one catch: World Cup venues are not permitted to affiliate branded names. The matches start in June. Thus, the Cowboys’ stadium will apparently be renamed “Dallas Stadium” for a brief period of time. Indeed, despite being in Arlington.
