Teddy Bridgewater played quarterback in the NFL for nine seasons, but he was never considered to
be an outstanding player.
As Drew Brees’ backup for the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Bridgewater started five games for the New
Orleans Saints in 2019 while Brees was sidelined due to a right thumb injury.
After his time in the NFL is finished, he is embarking on a new endeavour as the head coach of
Miami Northwestern Senior High School, his former school.
Through their official Twitter account, the Saints wished him success as he embarks on this next
chapter in his football career.
After a stellar season at the University of Louisville, Bridgewater was regarded as a top prospect in
2014 and was selected with the 32nd overall pick in the draft.
In 2015, just his second season in the NFL, he was selected to the Pro Bowl despite throwing for
just 3,231 yards and 14 touchdowns.
However, he had to miss the entire 2016 season due to an ACL tear, and that was the beginning of
the end for his career.
For the 2020 season, Bridgewater signed with the Carolina Panthers. The next year, he played in 14
games as a starter for the Denver Broncos, having one of his greatest seasons as a professional
overall.
After that, he was able to play for his Miami Dolphins the previous season, starting two games in
place of QB Tua Tagovailoa, who had numerous concussions.
Having played in just one Detroit Lions game this season, he will now try to impart his football
knowledge to the following generation of South Florida natives who will play on the gridiron.
