Bruins’ Jakub Lauko Reacts To Jeremy Swayman’s Hug Snub.
The NHL All-Star weekend is meant to be a celebration of the sport and for viewers to watch fun interactions between the top
players in the league. However, a Vancouver Canucks player had different plans Friday.
Jeremy Swayman and David Pastrnak, representing the Boston Bruins in Toronto, were booed by Maple Leafs fans during the skills competition.
Before the occasion, Swayman continued his goalie embrace habit with Linus Ullmark. Jake Oettinger and Alexandar Georgiev
obliged, but Thatcher Demko dismissed Swayman before the NHL video concluded with hugs from Igor Shesterkin and Connor Hellebuyck.
Bruins fans were disappointed by the Canucks All-Star’s rejection, but a fan favorite reacted correctly.
At the All-Star break, Boston and Vancouver were tied for the most points in the NHL, so Demko may have had a competitive
advantage. The Bruins and Canucks have a history of hatred, as evidenced by the 2011 Stanley Cup final. It is probable that this year’s final will also involve the two teams.
The roots of a renewed rivalry may have been planted Friday night, and it might continue when the Canucks face the Bruins for
the first time this season next Thursday at TD Garden. Following his snub to Swayman, B’s followers are expected to greet Demko warmly in Boston.
