Three transfers Rangers could seal on January transfer deadline day
Three transfers Rangers could seal on January transfer deadline day
The January transfer window is almost over, but Rangers might still have time to sign some interesting
new players.
Prior to the January transfer window even opening, the Ibrox team made a move to sign Fabio Silva on
loan from Wolves.
However, to increase Philippe Clement’s options in the middle of the pitch, adaptable
midfielder Mohamed Diomande arrived from FC
Nordsjaelland a few weeks later for a substantial £4.3m.
Over the next few hours, players like Ridvan Yilmaz and Jose Cifuentes might still be traded out of
Govan, but for the time being, we’ll concentrate on the players the Gers still have a chance to sign this
month.
Journalist Mark Hendry for Football Scotland believes Clement is still looking for a striker, left-back,
and winger. Clement has assured
supporters that work will be done until the very last minute of the transfer window.
Rangers News has therefore examined the hiring that may be done right up until the very last minute.
Oscar Cortes
On the day of the transfer deadline, Rangers supporters may expect to see Oscar Cortes, a winger for RC
Lens, become the team’s first recruit.
The 20-year-old Colombian winger is about to leave the French team, which hasn’t been giving him the
playing time he wants, on a loan-to-buy deal to Glasgow.
Cortes, who left Millonarios for Lens in the summer in a £3.8 million transfer, has played in just four
Ligue 1 games this season, clocking in at a pitiful 40 minutes [Transfermarkt].
Thus, even though Rangers are about to sign a promising young player, they would need
to exercise caution when it comes to his match fitness.
Rangers are eager to finalize the signing of Jefte, a left-back replacement for Fluminense of Brazil,
should Ridvan Yilmaz go this month.
Given that Borna Barisic’s contract expires in the summer, the Jefte pact seems to have a lengthier
duration.
But if the 20-year-old wants to play for the Rangers in the end, there are still obstacles to be overcome.
This is due to the fact that he is currently on loan at APOEL in Greece, and they would need to finalize
negotiations before they could
reach a deal with Fluminense.
Jefte has also reportedly vanished from sight, and the club president has purportedly stated that he
hasn’t spoken to the full-back in at
least five days. That has only served to stoke more Rangers rumors.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Fluminense and Rangers have already reached an
agreement; APOEL only needs to approve the move.
It is reported that in order to terminate the loan agreement, the Brazilians would need to pay APOEL up
to £400k in compensation.
This season, Jefte has made 20 appearances for APOEL, with four assists and three goals
Could the Lawrence Shankland to Rangers conjecture finally meet its end before 11.30pm this evening?
The Hearts talisman has been constantly touted for a move across the M8 to Ibrox this
month but concrete interest in the striker from Gers has yet to be confirmed or denied.
Rangers scouts were reportedly present at Hearts’ recent win over Aberdeen – which Shankland scored
in – and that has added fuel to the fire over the past couple of days.
