Rangers defenders joins Premiership rivals as former favorite sees huge Deadline Day move ‘collapse’

A former Rangers star’s transfer aspirations were dashed on deadline day.

Rangers defender Adam Devine has signed a deadline-day loan deal with Premiership rivals Motherwell.

Kilmarnock had interest in the 20-year-old player, but the Steelmen ultimately signed him till the end of the season, according to The Herald.

Devine will consider the transfer as the perfect opportunity to display his potential in the Scottish Premiership, following limited first team opportunities at Ibrox.

The Scotland U21 defender made his Rangers debut in the 2021/22 season under Giovanni Van Bronkhorst and appeared in six games for the first team last season under Michael Beale, replacing the injured James Tavernier.

This season has been far more challenging for Devine, who has played only nine minutes of first-team football, all of which came in a League Cup clash against Morton.

Devine’s arrival comes only weeks after Celtic loanee Adam Montgomery suffered a hamstring injury just days after joining Motherwell.

He is expected to miss three months of activity. The signing of Devine will be a tiny consolation for the Well, who lost out to Killie in their bid to re-sign Kevin van Veen.

Motherwell are not the only ones who have experienced transfer misery on deadline day; former Rangers title winner Ryan Kent has also endured

tragedy tonight. Following a nightmarish six months at Fenerbahce, the former title winner was set to sign a loan deal with Italian heavyweights Lazio this evening.

Kent has only played seven games this season and has been left out of Istanbul’s first team.

Ryan Kent’s trade to Lazio has fallen through, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter. Fenerbahçe has been informed.
