The January transfer deadline is looming for Celtic as they have just hours to get their business completed for the month.
After spending £3 million to leave Rapid Vienna, Nicolas Kuhn is still the lone newcomer; however,
Adam Idah is almost certain to join Norwich City on loan tonight.
From an outreach perspective, Celtic may have a busy night ahead of them. The club has already
approved Marco Tilio’s loan move to Melbourne City, and David Turnbull and Mikey Johnston are
allegedly going through medicals in preparation for their respective moves to West Bromwich
Albion and Cardiff City.
A report in The Scottish Sun claims that James Forrest has also been connected to a stunning exit,
but it isn’t to the Welsh giants named above.
Another player who might be bidding farewell to his teammates is Gustaf Lagerbielke, although
considering Cameron Carter-Vickers’ most recent injury setback, a loan out is suddenly looking
very improbable.
After Football Scotland announced that Benjamin Siegrist’s potential move to Sturm Graz had
fallen through, the news surrounding his future had become stagnant for a few weeks.
The same source has provided a new update on his circumstances, though. According to journalist
Mark Hendry, Celtic has decided to retain the custodian for the remainder of the campaign.
This is due to the fact that, since the Sturm Graz interest, “no suitable parties” have inquired about
hiring the former Dundee United stopper.
It implies that Siegrist’s last-minute departure on transfer deadline day appears doubtful, which
should greatly irritate the Swiss.
Fitbastats indicates that he hasn’t played a competitive game for the Hoops since October 2022
against Motherwell. He has only made one matchday squad for Celtic this season [Transfermarkt].
Brendan Rodgers prefers Joe Hart to Scott Bain at the sticks, with the latter ranking second.
Siegrist will not be leaving Celtic before the window closes later on, which is frustrating because he
has been forced to watch from the stands for far too long.
Since Siegrist is obviously useless to Celtic, supporters will probably have to wait until the summer
to see him leave Glasgow for a different team.
