Mentions made of South American replacements as the Rangers retaliate in the transfer war.
Nicolas Tagliafico, an Argentine international left back, is being considered by Galatasaray as a possible replacement for Rangers star Ridvan Yilmaz.
If the Turkish giants’ much-publicized interest in the Rangers full-back fades, they are also rumored to be mulling a move for Boca Juniors alternative Frank Fabra.
Galatasaray and Ridvan Yilmaz have been linked throughout the summer window; some reports even state the Rangers turned down a bid.
Rangers manager Philippe Clement has stated that each player has a value, but the most recent information indicates Gala may have backup plans in case they are unable to satisfy the Ibrox team’s demands.
Galatasaray has substitutes for Ridvan Yilmaz.
At least this is according to Turkish outlet Aksam, who are also claiming that Ridvan Yilmaz wants a return to Turkey.
The 22-year-old left-back was acquired by the Gers from Besiktas 18 months ago, but up until lately, he had trouble winning over disgruntled fans.
According to reports, Rangers may ask for up to €6 million (£5 million) for the left-back during this transfer window; as it stands, Galatasaray is obviously unwilling to spend that amount.
Interesting candidates include Colombian Frank Fabra, a highly-regarded young prospect who plays in Argentina with Boca, and Argentina World Cup champion Nicolas Tagliafico, a former Ajax left-back currently at Lyon.
But before Galatasaray move on to these targets, it’s said they’re trying to break Rangers’ resolve and get them to lower their Ridvan Yilmaz asking price.
Rangers won’t change their demands for transfers.
The Rangers are looking to strengthen their player trading model, which has been criticized and sometimes nonexistent. The days of doing inexpensive deals with the Ibrox club are long gone.
The Giants reorganized their hiring process in the summer and plan to have transfer assessments for each player on the team.
Until these valuations are met, no player will be sold with Ridvan Yilmaz the point in case for Nils Koppen and co in this transfer window.
It’s really easy for Galatasaray, who recently received a cheque for £25 million following the sale of Sacha Boey to Bayern.
They have two options: they either go on to their next two targets or suck up and pay Rangers for Ridvan Yilmaz.
Meanwhile, Rangers is still rumored to be interested in Brazilian left-back Jefferson as a substitute.
