Rangers transfer news amid profit twist in Nottingham Forest chase of Jack Butland

News of Rangers’ sale comes as Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of Jack Butland takes a financial turn.

The Daily Record claims that Rangers will make a “massive” profit when they sell goalkeeper Jack Butland to Nottingham Forest.

Page 50 of the print edition of the newspaper stated on January 31, 1971, that the Germans were unwilling to sell the Englishman before the deadline.

After his contract at Crystal Palace expired in the summer, the 30-year-old moved on a free transfer to Ibrox.

Defy impulses

Rangers could certainly turn a profit by selling a player they signed for free to a respectable amount of money.

It appears that Forest will be willing to pay a hefty price, which is why talk of a “massive” profit has surfaced.

Less than 48 hours remain until the transfer window ends, therefore Philippe Clement won’t want to do that.

The goal for January is to bolster the team and close any gaps so they can become competitive enough to contend with Celtic for the league.

They’re already playing catch up to their rivals in terms of points and the last thing the fans want at this time is another season where they watch Celtic lift the title.

Hopefully, Forest will not come back with a big offer, but it appears that the Gers have decided to go to the negotiating table too late.

Since billionaire Evangelos Marinakis is their owner, money won’t be an issue.

In other Rangers news, a behind-the-scenes report has surfaced, suggesting that the Gers want to sign a player on deadline day following the recent events.
