Scott McKenna of the Rangers was seen exiting a private jet amid rumors of an Ibrox transfer.
According to the Scottish Sun, Scott McKenna, who was being pursued by Rangers and Celtic, has arrived in Denmark to finalize his January transfer to FC Copenhagen.
The tabloid announced on its website on Tuesday, January 30, that the 27-year-old defender, who has been connected to a move to Glasgow this month, is expected to sign a low-cost contract with the Danish team after losing his starting position at Nottingham Forest.
In a video uploaded on X by Copenhagen Sundays on January 30, McKenna can be seen boarding a private plane and landing in Denmark as he prepares to sign a deal with the Champions League team.
The 27-year-old was available on a short-term loan before his contract at the City Ground ended at the conclusion of the season, according to reports that first surfaced from Sky Sports on January 5. Both Rangers and Celtic were reportedly interested in the player.
Whether or not Rangers’ interest in McKenna ever went any further than the initial reports remains to be seen, but it seems clear that the Forest centre-back will not be a Rangers player before the transfer deadline.
While Philippe Clement would have likely hoped to have added to his centre-back options this month, the Belgian had more pressing issues to deal with in the January window, including bolstering his midfield and adding to his wide options.
McKenna would have been an excellent addition, but not one that the Gers had to make this month. Maybe this could be a deal that the Light Blues could revisit come the summer when Clement has more time to shape his squad.
Hopefully, one or two private jets will be making the trip to Glasgow in the final days of the January window, with a little bit more work required before it slams shut at Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, an injury update has emerged in the Gers’ quest to sign Oscar Cortes this month.
