One in’ – Alan Myers issues Everton transfer prediction ahead of 1 Feb deadline.

According to Alan Myers, Everton may still have time to bring in one new addition before the transfer deadline.

On 31 January, the Sky Sports writer tweeted his Toffees transfer forecast, implying that any arrivals would not be multiple and were still doubtful, while not ruling out exits.

Sean Dyche declined to comment on the final 48 hours of the transfer market after a goalless draw at Fulham on January 30. He implied that there was no money to spend, making transactions improbable.

But asked about news on business before the deadline Myers replied: “I would guess one in at the very most, outgoings I’m not so sure to be fair.”

Door ajar

The unfortunate reality at Goodison Park currently is that various factors are conspiring to give the club minimal scope to even investigate deals

Financial issues off the pitch, along with an ongoing takeover process and two Premier League referrals on profit and sustainability grounds, appear to indicate that there is no budget for permanent signings, unless a significant sum is received.

And, with two loans already in place, there is no room for another unless Jack Harrison or Arnaut Danjuma leave the club.

The latter has been lined up for a Lyon switch through much of the window, but even in pursuits that Everton appear to have engaged in they haven’t had any luck so there is no benefit in letting the Dutchman leave.

Hannibal Mejbri had previously decided to join Sevilla, putting the Toffees at a disadvantage. Real Betis had a permanent sale of Luiz Henrique available, therefore a loan deal from Merseyside was turned down.

Ben Godfrey appears to be the most likely to go before the deadline, but his recent start against Fulham could complicate matters.
