Latest Celtic transfer news on Adam Idah, left back search and outgoings
A loan from Norwich City is set to make Adam Idah Celtic’s second January transfer window addition. Ironically, the Canaries have approved the Irish striker’s departure after they have found a replacement in Sydney van Hooijdonk, a former target of the Hoops. He had discussed a loan to Serie A with Hellas Verona, but he was keen to transfer as soon as he learned that Celtic was interested.
Idah will provide competition for Kyogo and Oh when the South Korean returns from Asian Cup duty but doesn’t have a prolific scoring record at Norwich. Brendan Rodgers had wanted more options at centre forward and the 22-year-old was identified as an option.
They had been trying to add a left-back, and Tiago Araujo was a target early on. However, after turning out for Liverpool, Owen Beck was dropped, leaving Dundee as the only team he could be loaned to after spending the first half of the season there. Due to Greg Taylor’s injury, Alexandro Bernabei is the only candidate left in the position, hence the Hoops are still actively looking for someone.
Parkhead outgoings are also rather likely.Lecce is interested in signing Gustaf Lagerbielke, and the player has pleaded with Celtic not to ruin his hopes of playing in Serie A. The Italians have also given the Hoops till tonight to finalize a deal.
David Turnbull is drawing attention as well after Cardiff made contact with the Celts. The midfield player is still in talks with the Championship team, and a deal could happen before the deadline. He seems destined to depart on a free transfer in the summer anyway.
