Two-time NBA champion Rajon Rondo was arrested on drug and weapons charges on Sunday.
According to WDRB news, former Boston Celtics player Rajon Rondo was taken into custody on Sunday in Indiana on drug and weapons-related offenses.
After being pulled over in Indiana for a traffic infraction, Rondo—who last played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2021–2022 season—had his car searched and discovered a gun, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Rondo was then transported to an Indiana jail located in Jackson County.
Rondo instantly posted bail, but he still needs to show up in court.
Due to a 2022 incident involving a lady, Rondo was subject to an emergency protective order and no-contact clause, which prohibited him from owning a firearm. Rondo’s past “volatile, erratic, and explosive behavior” was allegedly mentioned by the woman in the protective order request. Ultimately, this injunction was revoked after the parties “reached an agreement.”
Throughout his first nine seasons of professional basketball, the four-time All-Star and NBA champion was a member of the Boston Celtics. He didn’t achieve the same level of success for the remainder of his career as he did in Boston. But in 2020, he was able to secure yet another championship with the Boston Celtics’ bitter rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers.
