Fabrizio Romano claims Rangers have missed out on ‘outstanding’ Arsenal teenager

Lino Sousa, an Arsenal star, was on the verge of joining Premier League rivals Aston Villa, but Rangers were unable to sign him.

This month, Rangers have been connected to a number of left backs, and it appears that Brazilian prospect Jefte has emerged as the team’s priority target.

Borna Barisic‘s contract expires in the summer, and Ridvan Yilmaz has frequently been mentioned as considering a move from Ibrox.

Although Kai Wagner decided to remain with Philadelphia Union, rumors linking him to Twente’s star player Gijs Smal have been downplayed. A new left back is desired.

Since Lino Sousa, a talented player from Arsenal, is not expected to join Rangers before the transfer deadline, another name may now be ruled out.

pass up signing Lino Sousa, a teenage player for Arsenal
Although Sousa’s name hasn’t surfaced at any stage during this transfer window, Fabrizio Romano now asserts that Rangers have expressed interest in signing the adolescent player.

According to Romano, Rangers was in competition with Galatasaray and Juventus to sign Sousa.

But Aston Villa has already agreed to a contract to sign Sousa permanently, therefore all three teams have lost out.

Villa defeated Rangers to sign Sousa, and it is said that a medical will happen in the next few hours.

The 18-year-old was born in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, but relocated to Wolverhampton when he was just eight years old.

When Sousa first joined West Bromwich Albion, he made an impression that led to a transfer to Arsenal in 2022.

Despite being in training and even matchday squads, Sousa has been around the Arsenal first team but has yet to make his debut.

Sousa, an England Under-19 international, has received praise from former Arsenal junior coach Kevin Betsy, who called him “outstanding.”

Sousa’s decision to rejoin Villa and return to the West Midlands is not surprising, as it appears that Arsenal is prepared to let him go.

Rangers may have seen Sousa’s enormous potential, but Jefte, an APOEL loanee, appears to be the reason this transfer won’t go through.
