Celtic ‘halt’ exit discussions for defender as ex-Rangers star ‘refuses’ to leave new club amid ongoing feud
Gustaf Lagerbielke, a Celtic defender, has an uncertain future in the last days of the transfer market.
The January transfer market often produces major stories in the last few days, which might be the case for Celtic and Rangers this month.
The Hoops have had a very quiet summer in terms of incomings, with German winger Nicolas Kuhn being the lone high-profile signing from Rapid Vienna.
While Rocco Vata and Matt O’Riley are expected to stay with the Hoops after the winter season, summer signing Gustaf Lagerbielke remains uncertain.
The Swedish defender joined the Hoops in the summer but has struggled to make an impact since moving from IF Elfsborg. Overall, the defender has only made six league games, falling behind Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales in the pecking order.
Reports from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claims that both Leece and Genoa have been keeping tabs on the defender in recent weeks – while
Sky Sport had even claimed that the former had begun contract talks over a potential loan-to-buy offer.
However, a new report from Sky Sports now claims that talks between the two parties have reached a stumbling block and a new change of events
could even lead to the player remaining at Celtic until the end of the season due to a recent injury to Carter-Vickers.
Ex-Rangers star could have contract frozen as he refuses to leave club.
Ryan Kent was one of the best players on Gerrard’s title-winning Rangers squad in 2020/21, and he also helped the team reach the Europa League
final the following year. However, he is currently suffering in Turkey and is thought to have fallen out with manager, İsmail Kartal.
Kent has had a dismal start at new club Fenerbahce, making only seven league appearances, six of which came off the bench.
Kent has been frozen out of the Istanbul club’s plans in recent weeks, and he has been connected with a variety of clubs, including Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq and Croatian heavyweights Dinamo Zagreb.
According to TRT Spor, Kent refuses to leave Fenerbahce, perhaps leading to his contract being frozen.
According to the Turkish site, ‘Fenerbache have reportedly locked Ryan Kent’s contract after the winger rejected several transfer offers this month.
The ex-Rangers player may stay in Istanbul until the summer without earning pay.
