View: Rangers could get Shankland answer today as Sky Sports share new update
Rangers may be about to find out if Lawrence Shankland is still a viable target after Hearts made the
striker a second contract offer.
Sky Sports News claimed on Tuesday [30 January, 10:51] that Hearts had improved Shankland’s terms.
This follows the Scotland international’s rejection of the Jambos’ first contract offer earlier this month.
If he accepts the proposal, Shankland will be under contract at Tynecastle until the summer of 2027,
increasing his valuation.
Hearts may always sell to a competitor, but Rangers would never consider paying more than £5 million.
Should Shankland signal that he has no intention of signing new terms with Hearts, then the door will
remain open for Rangers.
It’s unclear how interested the club is in the 28-year-old, but we’ll find out shortly.
Shankland has scored 38 goals in 59 Scottish Premiership matches since the beginning of last season
and would surely benefit Rangers.
With the transfer window shutting in just a few days, it’s now or never for this deal.
And if Shankland accepts Hearts’ new contract offer, the decision for the Gers will already be decided.
