Rangers are interested in 26-year-old striker Ibrox, according to a reliable writer.
Rangers seem to be seriously considering acquiring a new striker, as Philippe Clement is currently associated with Hugo Cuypers of Gent.
The Belgian has earned youth international caps for his nation and is scoring a goal almost every two games for his team this year. This kind of depth in his squad is just what the manager of the Gers could use.
Regarding the report, a name surfaced and was promptly validated by reputable transfer journalist Sacha Tovolieri, who explained the Rangers’ interest in Hugo Cuypers on X.
Hugo Cuypers is a huge supporter of Rangers’.
Tovolieri is well-known to the majority of supporters who keep an eye on transfer rumors on social media, having broken Rangers’ transfer record for Nicolas Raskin.
There are two ways to interpret the news this time.
Although it seems that Clement and Nils Koppen are huge admirers of the six-foot-tall striker, they have decided not to take action just yet.
The most plausible explanation, given that we have a deal with Gent that runs through 2026, is that we would not want to pay the requested fee while Cyriel Dessers and Danilo are still with us.
Perhaps if Sam Lammers had signed a long-term contract, as he intends to return in the summer.
Cuypers and Dessers have fairly similar profiles in that they are both textbook nines who aren’t the fastest.
He can also be just as streaky when it comes to finding the net.
Another player who he is similar to is Lawrence Shankland.
Or maybe not.
However, this story does imply that Clement will bring in more forwards during this transfer window than Oscar Cortes.
Hugo Cuypers has obviously pleased Rangers, but there are other considerations when choosing a new signing.
The 26-year-old’s name was completely unexpected, just like the players that have already arrived or are rumored to be on their way.
Whose name will come up next?
