Jefte seems ready to ditch title charge to sign for Rangers this week

Jefte appears prepared to give up the title fight in order to sign with the Rangers this week.

As the APOEL loanee gets ready to forgo one possible title challenge in favor of another, Rangers are getting closer to signing Fluminense prospect Jefte.

On Friday, Rangers added their second January signing when Mohamed Diomande made the big £4.3 million transfer from Nordsjaelland.

Diomande joins Fabio Silva at Rangers and there may yet be more new faces to come before this week’s transfer deadline.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Borna Barisic’s and Ridvan Yilmaz’s long-term prospects, adding another left defender appears to be a top priority.

Brazilian left defender Jefte is a surprise target for Rangers, as it appears he will likely sign with the Gers before the transfer window closes.

By no means is Jefte a household name, but he has contributed significantly to this season’s title push.

Jefte appears ready to drop his pursuit of the APOEL title in favor of the Rangers.
