The news agency reports that the central defender wants to depart for more regular games ahead of this summer’s Euro 2024, writing in their live transfer blog on January 30, 12:10.
The former Aberdeen defender was linked to Rangers and Celtic earlier in the transfer window, but it now appears he may head to Copenhagen, a Champions League rival, before his contract expires in the summer.
They stated, “FC Copenhagen and Forest have begun talks over a deal that would bring Scottish international Scott McKenna to Denmark.”
“It is believed that McKenna is eager to transfer in order to receive more consistent playing time leading up to Scotland’s participation in the Euros this summer.
“McKenna hasn’t played for Forest in the Premier League since September. He’s also been linked to Rangers.”
“Any agreement with Copenhagen is expected to mark the end of McKenna’s time at the City Ground, as his Forest contract expires in June.”

Since it was rumored that Philippe Clement was looking to add a new central defense this month, Rangers were connected to a transfer for McKenna. However, it now appears that this information may not be accurate.
A move for McKenna never really seemed possible, but as he is Scottish and is seeking more regular playing tie, a link to Glasgow’s biggest club made sense and was simple to arrange. However, as the month has gone on, we have seen fewer ties to center-backs.
In the end, though, it wasn’t a top priority for this transfer window because Connor Goldson, Ben Davies, John Souttar, Leon Balogun, and even Leon King could all play in that position.
Copenhagen is an appealing alternative because they can give him regular games and a chance to participate in the Champions League.
It’s an agreement that benefits all parties involved—including the Rangers—because other deals must be finalized as soon as possible, with Thursday’s deadline being the first priority.
