Everton pursues a last-minute loan-to-buy agreement with Nottingham Forest for Ismaila Sarr.
Football Transfers reports that Everton is attempting to sign Marseille attacker Ismaila Sarr in a late-window deal.
Although Nottingham Forest and Villarreal are presenting a challenge, the publication stated on their website on January 30 that the Toffees are interested in signing the Senegal international on a loan-to-buy agreement.
The 25-year-old is available for £13 million on a permanent contract, but Everton lacks the funds to sign him and, despite their close attention to him, are now in danger since rivals have made “significant strides.”
Now that Forest and Villarreal are after the versatile attacker, there’s a perception that they’ve “stolen a march” on Everton.
As usual, complicated
Marseille’s hopes for a permanent contract would undoubtedly eliminate the Toffees from the running because of their well-known financial constraints.
It is unclear what Forest could contribute given that they have also been reported by the Premier League for a profit and sustainability violation.
Given that the team is only allowed to have two temporary players at once and that Jack Harrison doesn’t appear to be leaving, Sarr would undoubtedly be expected to join at Goodison Park in order to replace Arnaut Danjuma, who is now on loan.
The Dutchman is on loan from Villarreal meaning Sarr would presumably also be something of a replacement at the Spanish club if he ends up there.
Lyon has been after Danjuma throughout the transfer window, and interest has now surfaced in the Eredivisie. However, if Everton is to sign the next man in, they may find it difficult to work with his original club in La Liga.
Before moving to Ligue 1 in the summer, Sarr scored 33 league goals for Watford in the Championship and Premier League. However, he hasn’t played in the last three league games and has fallen out of favor with the team.
A Premier League team is attempting to finalize a contract to sign a star player for the Everton team before to the deadline.
