Dallas Cowboys Legend Under Investigation for Alleged ‘Misconduct’.
A Dallas Cowboys legend is under police investigation in Texas for an unnamed claim. The Allen, Texas Police Department has confirmed to Pro Football Talk that Michael Irvin is being investigated. According to TMZ Sports, Irvin is accused of misbehavior.
Allen PD Public Information Officer Jonathan Maness informed PFT via email that an allegation has been made, but no details are yet available due to the ongoing investigation. Levi McCathern, Irvin’s lawyer, fiercely denied the accusation over the phone to PFT. “He didn’t do anything wrong or inappropriate,” McCathern stated.
McCathern went on to say there’s “absolutely no truth” to the allegation and predicted the allegations, like others made in the past against the Super Bowl champion wide receiver. “will turn out to be much ado about nothing.”
In 2023, Irvin faced an allegation that was not serious enough to warrant an inquiry. During Super Bowl week, a complaint from a Mariott employee led to Irvin’s suspension by the NFL Network and ESPN. Irvin sued Marriott, then worked for FS1 before returning to the NFL Network.
In an interview with Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas last year, Irvin discussed the incident at the Marriott hotel in Arizona. There’s a lot going on. I’m not sure if you heard or not… Sunday night.
This is freaking me out… I don’t remember, but when I got in, they questioned [what I did], and I responded, ‘I just went straight to the room,'” According to the New York Post, Irvin said this. “But I suppose I had met someone in the lobby. I talked to someone in the foyer for approximately a minute before going to my room. And then, after I went up there and started working, they informed me that they needed to shift me to the hotel the next day. I asked, ‘Move me in the hotel for what?’
“So they moved my hotel, and I said, ‘What’s going on, guys? What’s happening? Why are we moving hotels?’ They said, ‘Well, last night you walked in, you talked to somebody.’ I said, ‘I didn’t talk to anybody. I went straight to the room.’ And then they showed it on camera that I did talk to somebody. I talked to this girl for about a minute.
I’m not sure what it was—they didn’t reveal it to me. They explained everything to me. I did not see it… But that’s why they moved me because I believe the female stated I said something to her in the minute we talked, so they moved me.”
Irvin, 57, spent his entire career with the Cowboys (1988–1999), winning three Super Bowls with them. He was also named to five Pro Bowls, three All-Pro Teams, and the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team. Throughout his NFL career, Irvin caught 750 passes for 11,904 yards and 65 touchdowns.
