£15m ace joins Italian giants and may pave way for Rangers man’s Ibrox exit
Galatasaray has the luxury to unwind and take their time, while the majority of Europe is rushing to finish tasks before this week’s window shuts. After all, the Turkish window is scheduled to be open until February 9th.
Despite a strong recent run of play, it’s likely that Ridvan Yilmaz will be allowed to depart if the price is right at some time over the next two weeks, as Rangers appear to be closing in on a deal that will see former Brazil youth star Jefte come at Ibrox.
Rangers could still sell Ridvan Yilmaz
Perhaps Yilmaz’s most likely destination is still Galatasaray. especially after Ruben Vinagre from Sporting Lisbon was brought in by Hellas Verona, who considered him as a possible Josh Doig replacement. Furthermore, the door might have swung wide open today if it was previously ajar.
After joining on loan in the summer, Angelino, the £15 million left-back owned by RB Leipzig, was scheduled to remain at Galatasaray until the end of the current campaign. However, Angelino’s interim contract has ended, and as of Tuesday afternoon, he completed a move from Istanbul to Roma. As a result, the Galatasaray team currently lacks a left-back.
A hole Yilmaz could fill.
“When I heard the word Roma, I didn’t hesitate,” says Angelino, the well-travelled Spaniard who has also had spells at PSV Eindhoven and Manchester City.
“Today, I’m proud to be a part of a great club with an incredible history and a team full of champions. I’m excited to meet the coach (Jose Mourinho’s replacement, Daniele de Rossi) and my new teammates, and put myself at their disposal.”
Jefte in, Ridvan Yilmaz out at Ibrox?
In his last three Scottish Premiership games for Rangers, Yilmaz has scored once and provided an assist. He scored the first goal in the 3-0 victory over Hibernian and continued to look good in the hard-fought victory over St Mirren on Saturday. Jefte’s arrival, who is reportedly expected to cost Rangers an incredible £400,000, may still open the door for the former Besiktas player to return to Turkey.
