Rangers transfer news as update emerges in hunt to complete deadline-busting striker signing

Latest news about Rangers transfers as they attempt to finalize the signing of a striker before the deadline.

The Fourth Official claims that Rangers are “trying their best” to find a new center-forward before the January transfer window closes.

The journalist claimed that the Light Blues are making every effort to bring a new number nine to Ibrox before the window closes on Thursday, February 1st, when reporting on his X account on Monday, January 29.

Oscar Cortes is scheduled to be confirmed as a Rangers player on Tuesday, January 30, increasing the Gers’ depth of skill in the final third. Philippe Clement has previously signed Fabio Silva to add more competition in the forward areas [Daily Record, 29 January].

When asked whether a “quality striker” would be signed, The Fourth Official replied: “They are definitely trying their best, I know that.”

Finish it off.

Rangers supporters were unanimous before the transfer market opened this month that the Light Blues needed to acquire a new number nine player in order to win the Scottish Premiership at the end of the current campaign.

Though the Nigerian has already demonstrated this season that he lacks the firepower to have a significant impact in the biggest games of the season, Cyriel Dessers has shown promise in recent weeks and appears to be improving in a Rangers uniform.

Clement had no choice but to acquire a new center-forward because Danilo and Kemar Roofe were also plagued by injuries on a regular basis. Although Silva starts, he is far from a polished product and cannot be counted on to perform every week.

In the closing days of the transfer window, hopefully, the Gers’ efforts won’t go to waste and they’ll be able to seal a deal to bring a new striker to Ibrox before it closes, but this might very well be a trade that pushes the deadline.

In other Rangers news, in order to accommodate more incoming business, the Gers plan to announce one new signing on Tuesday.
