Rangers ‘agree deal’ with Lens for Oscar Cortes transfer

The 20-year-old Colombian winger was reportedly Philippe Clement’s target last night as he continued to reorganize his starting lineup at Ibrox. The forward left childhood club Millenniumios to sign with Lens in Ligue 1.

But after making his 11 appearances for the French team, it seems he’s headed for Ibrox. According to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra of Win Sports TV, Rangers and Lens have now reached an agreement for the player.

Cortes is going to have a check-up now. Rangers will have the option to purchase the player after the first loan period ends in the summer, however the exact cost is still unknown.

In his first transfer window as manager, Clement has already finalized deals for Mohamed Diomande of FC Nordsjaelland and striker Fabio Silva of Wolves.

Brazilian full-back Jefte is also close to completing a move to Ibrox as Rangers wait on work permit paperwork being signed off to allow Diomande to get down to business with Clement’s side.

Meanwhile, Rangers have granted a South American club permission to speak to midfielder Jose Cifuentes, according to a report. The Ecuadorian, 24, only arrived in Glasgow from LAFC in the summer under Michael Beale.

However, it’s thought that Philippe Clement, the new manager, will permit the midfield player to leave the team after just six months. Only twenty games have he played for the Light Blues since agreeing to a four-year contract.

It was revealed last week that Rangers and Turkish team Rizespor had struck an agreement for the player to start on loan, with a £2 million buyout option in the summer. It is known, meanwhile, that Cifuentes disliked moving to Turkey.
