Making Sense Of The Cowboys’ Plan For 2024 Draft.
The Dallas Cowboys are preparing for the NFL draft in April, as the season approaches the Super Bowl. Look,
Although I am not a head coach or general manager, I have a clear vision for the team’s 2024 draft strategy.
In all likelihood, it will not happen this way, but here are my personal suggestions on what they should do.
The first round is expected to be clear, while the second round becomes more challenging.
Biggest Need
The Cowboys prioritize improving their offensive line during the selection process.
This squad may lose Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz this offseason.
Smith is a free agent, but even if re-signed, he is 33 and has struggled to stay on the field.
With Tyler Smith as the 24th overall pick, it’s wise to prioritize youth over Zack Martin, who will return in a few years.
My guess is that they sign Amarius Mims from Georgia or Jordan Morgan from Arizona.
Odd Spot
This is where it gets interesting for this team.
They also need help in the secondary, linebacker, running back. It also wouldn’t hurt to add a young wide receiver for way less than what they are paying Michael Gallup to do nothing every week.
While cornerback and safety are not high priority positions, adding another playmaker would be beneficial.
If Stephon Gilmore or Jordan Lewis do not resign, we can discuss this further.
I still don’t like how they play against successful teams; they struggled, but we’ll see what happens.
If I had authority over this draft, I would choose a running back or linebacker in the second round, sorry.
