Rangers are set to meet with Galatasaray officials again this week as negotiations continue over a potential January deal for Ridvan Yilmaz, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.
The journalist for Sports Digitale claimed on January 28 via his X account that a second meeting
has been scheduled because the Turkish powerhouses want to close the deal before the transfer
deadline.
This came after Sabuncuoglu revealed on January 27 that Rangers had turned down a £2.5 million
loan-to-buy bid because they want £3.8 million in order to let him go.
Negotiations reaching their zenith
Rangers has rejected several loan-to-buy approaches from Galatasaray, so it’s just a matter of time
before one or both parties modify their positions in an attempt to close the transaction before the
deadline on February 1.
It appears that this deal will close shortly, regardless of whether Rangers’ lesser demands or
Galatasaray’s higher offers—which have thus far fallen short of the asking price—are the causes of
that shift.
Since Borna Barisic’s injury thrust him into the starting lineup, Yilmaz has put in a run of strong
performances at Ibrox, which may entice Rangers to keep him after all, particularly if their
demands are not satisfied.
Given the £25.6 million sale of Sacha Boey to Bayern Munich [Fabrizio Romano, January 28], the
£1.3 million valuation difference shouldn’t be too great for the Turkish team to negotiate, so if
Rangers remain true to their demand of £3.8 million, they may soon achieve their goal.
