Official reason behind Van Hooijdonk’s absence against Milan has nothing to do with Celtic transfer.
Sydney Van Hooijdonk, the son of former Celtic striker Pierre, has been linked with a move away from the Stadio Dall’Ara in the January transfer
window, with many clubs interested in signing him, including the Scottish giants.
Van Hooijdonk did not even make the bench for an away game against Milan on Saturday night, and it was speculated that his absence was related to his impending departure for Scotland.
However, Bologna officially revealed the reason for his absence on Friday, saying the 23-year-old was unavailable due to flu.
However, the Dutch forward is still anticipated to depart Bologna during the January transfer window.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Rossoblu have agreed to sign Santiago Castro from Velez, which will allow Van Hooijdonk to leave on loan this month.
Only Sydney van Hooijdonk was able to depart Bologna in the final days of the transfer window. The striker now has the option of moving on loan.
Bologna has recruited Santiago Castro as a new striker from Vélez, allowing van Hooijdonk to leave.
