Former Celt, Stuart Gray passes away
The news that former Celtic Stuart Gray, 50, passed away from sickness is incredibly painful for everyone at Celtic. The midfielder, who came through Celtic’s school systems, made his debut on May 1, 1993, in a 1-0 home victory over Aberdeen. He is the nephew of Frank Gray and the son of Eddie, two stalwarts of the storied Leeds United team of the early 1970s.
That was the first of 32 games for the Hoops in which he scored one goal, with the strike coming in a 4-1 home win over Raith Rovers in May 1996.
Stuart joined Tommy Burns’ Reading side in 1998 and was there for three years before going on to play with Rushden & Diamonds for four years where he made 142 appearances.
Everyone at Celtic Park is sending their condolences and prayers to Stuart’s family and friends during this extremely difficult time. In remembrance of Stuart, the Celtic players will don black armbands throughout today’s matchup with Ross County.
